this is just horrific. it's so graphic and such a freak accident that the horror of the whole thing doesn't even hit you till afterwards. i know the the terror of this thing, a man that was a friend of a friend of mine got killed crossing a dangerous level crossing in s stock truck a few years ago.
be well Amanda.

Yes, it is horrific. Am I a horrible person for laughing at first glance?

Hopefully this will teach many young girls a lesson.
Do NOT wear ugg boots.

RIP.

Wow, so not only are these ugg boots ugly, they also possess the power to kill.

"s som i signatur", I laughed too. But then again, it's me, so that shouldn't be too comforting for you to know.

They should ban the creation of any more ugg boots, don't you think?

Surely this should read 'Train kills girl who was stuck in an ugg boot, was freed by a fearless passer-by, but was then encouraged by her boyfriend to cross the track AGAIN so he wouldn't miss his sodding train'?!!

Is this evidence that uggs compromise your sanity as well as your physical well-being?

Headline should be: Ugly Boots Do In Fact...KILL.

thats horrible, I feel bad.

April fools?!?!?

Guuuys. The Daily Mail is a tabloid. This story isn't real. You can laugh without guilt.

Alicia: though I agree with your general point about the Daily Mail, it has also been reported in the local press and the broadsheets.

I'm somewhat uneasy about Ms. Palmer using reports of someone's death to reinforce her fashion preferences...

but they said she had gotten unstuck when the train hit her. she wanted to cross to the other side, that's what killed her. so the uggs put her in the situation and her lack of good reasoning (well, crossing to begin with is bad reasoning) is what got her killed.

Oh my!

I really smiled over this well-written peace of an aprils fool... but the Guardians version reads a lot different.

To be honest: When I saw my newsreader showing a new post in the DDDiary I expected something like "Oh and then Brian told a joke so funny I couldn't help but laugh out loud. Now my voice reaches down to Johnny Cash. Be prepared." or something like that ;)

God, what a mean accident. I still need some time to be able to feel real sorry. First I have to erase the Ugg boot out of the equation...

I knew it would happen one day. I knew those boots were evil.

I so very nearly sent you the link to yahoo's story.

You're shitting me...

Well indeed this is a tragedy. Am I grotesque for finding a sliver of humour attached this?

RIP in your UGGLY shoes

Alicia dear, what has a newspaper's format got to do with anything? There are only two British national newspapers that aren't tabloids - the Daily Telegraph and the Financial Times.

As for this being an April Fools, the more observant will have noticed the story was published several days prior to April 1st.

I once laughed at an article about a boy being killed by a large snowball rolling down a hill. I no longer fear going to hell.

That said, it's never become more evident that Ugg boots are some form of the anti-Christ.

this just can't be serious

Next week's headline:

"Taxi kills man stuck in Croc shoe"

Maybe then, they will listen.

Bill, the guardian isn't a tabloid... it's a berliner.

Oh gosh.
Uggs kill.
More than just the animals that make them.

BTW, you + Boston Pops= I want.
I need to find a college in the area to visit as an excuse to go to see you. :P Working on it.

I feel sorry for the girl, but I am unsurprised that Uggs, in fact, possess the power to KILL.

why didn't she just ditch the boot...?

I will have the audacity to suggest that this woman deserves a song.

This happened on the train line that I use to get to college every day, and I can assure the sceptics that this was entirely real. The woman's boyfriend has been charged with manslaughter. I feel bad for the train driver and her two young children who have been left without a mother because she didn't wait a couple of minutes for the train to pass and the automatic barriers to rise. The papers claim she was trying to get across the tracks to get to the train, but it was going at 50 mph so obviously wasn't stopping at the station. Human stupidity knows no bounds.
